ABOUT RACS

The annual Royal Adelaide Coffee Show is open to coffee roasters of Australia working with both domestic or imported green beans. The competition, with support from ACTA ( the Australian Coffee Traders Association Inc ) features classes for Espresso, Piccolo, Latte and Plunger Coffee. Medals will be awarded in 4 individual classes, and trophies will be presented for Champion Espresso, Latte, Plunger Coffee, Piccolo and Organic Coffee.

JUDGING PROCESS

Exhibits are judged in a blind tasting from both a technical and consumer appreciation perspective, taking into consideration the appearance, aroma, taste, and body. 

A gold medal will be awarded to exhibits that score 95 points and over, a silver medal to exhibits that score 90 to 94.9 points and a bronze medal to exhibits that score 85 to 89.9 points. 
A trophy will be awarded to the exhibit with the highest points. A Trophy may be awarded to the highest pointing silver medal winning exhibit if a gold is not awarded for that class.

2025 ROYAL ADELAIDE COFFEE SHOW AWARD PRESENTATION

The Presentation of Awards will take place at the Adelaide Showground, in conjunction with the Adelaide Farmers Market. This semi-private function will provide an exclusive experience for exhibitors, judges, and sponsors, while still allowing the public to view and gain insight into the Roasting Competition.

JUDGING

  1. The Royal Adelaide Coffee Show engages the most experienced and respected Judges in the industry and endorses the development of future judges. 

  2. The process is overseen by a Chair of Judges and includes four separate judging panels. Each panel consists of one Panel Chair, two Senior Judges and a minimum of one Associate Judge

STEWARDING

  1. Stewards play a valuable role ensuring each judging day runs smoothly through the coordination and preparation of exhibits.

  2. Acting as a Steward for Royal Adelaide Coffee Show provides unique insight into a specific industry and counts as relevant experience toward an Associate Judge role in the future.
